Gabriela Gomez

Somatic therapist

Gabriela is a community facilitator and somatic counsellor at Bhavana Clinic. In her therapeutic approach, she combines narrative techniques with somatic exploration to meet your whole system with care and curiosity. She holds a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from McGill University and is a certified Somatic Experiencing practitioner.

THEIR APPROACH

She supports you on your journey by helping you set goals, cultivate self-compassion, build resilience to face grief, explore and address the impacts of trauma on the body and mind, meet difficult patterns and express authentic desires. Her work is grounded in harm reduction and anti-oppression and draws on animist principles of relationship (in which all beings are alive and available for connection and support).

She is there to meet you with compassion and without judgement, to make room for what is difficult and to help you access your inner resources. She specializes in the immigration experience, intergenerational and developmental trauma, gender identity development and diverse sexualities.

Much of her career has taken place on the ground, in community organizations focused on youth, emerging adults and the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. By centring her work on the people most affected by systemic oppression, her approach always strives to support the healing and wisdom, as well as the brilliance, that live in the bodies and hearts of all those who have experienced the world in this way.

She is constantly amazed and inspired by the wisdom and intelligence of the body and nervous system, and deeply honoured to guide her clients in becoming more aware of their intrinsic capacities and wisdom through the process of somatic therapy. To learn more, visit gabrielagomez.ca.
